After 66 years of covering the production and post production industry, SHOOT ceased publication on August 28, 2026. Roberta Griefer, Owner and Publisher of SHOOT penned a farewell letter to the industry, noting: “There’s nothing dramatic about the decision; it’s simply the right time to relax and enjoy life more without being tied to the constant responsibility of SHOOT.”
For decades, SHOOT chronicled directors, editors, visual effects artists signing with various production and post companies, up-and-coming talent, business affairs and legal issues, as well as highlighting the craft and creativity of commercials. SHOOT also ensured that AICP’s voice and viewpoints were heard and amplified, as well as ensuring the industry was educated about issues and solutions to business problems.
Longtime editor Robert Goldrich said: “In covering the industry for the better part of five decades, I’ve been privileged to see the better part of what our industry has to offer. And over time that offering has become all the more essential as we’ve sadly seen society descend into an era of divisiveness, indifference, fear mongering and a profound lack of empathy. During my tenure at SHOOT I’ve learned about and witnessed firsthand the power of storytelling to put us in someone else’s shoes, helping us to reconnect with our humanity and with others–particularly when drawing from a diverse community of voices, enabling us to experience stories that would otherwise be out of our realm of experience.”
