AICP - along with the APA and EPA - hosted the annual World Producers Summit in Cannes. This invite-only gathering returned to its roots this year as a meeting of a small group of production and post production companies from around the globe who shared intelligence and discussed issues impacting their respective countries.
Over 40 people attended from countries including Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the U.K. and the U.S.
Matt Miller, President and CEO of AICP, and Steve Davies, Chief Executive of the APA guided the discussion, which included topics such as emerging growth opportunities for independent companies, relations with marketers and independent agencies, and the power of global unity and collaboration.
INDIE AT LARGE EVENTS
Indie at Large is a new collective that brought independent agencies together at this year’s Cannes Lions. The effort is spearheaded by Chuck McBride, Founder/Chief Creative Officer of Cutwater, and Bill Oberlander, Co-Founder/Creative Chair of Oberland.

As part of the gatherings, Soul & Science, the podcast hosted by Jason Harris, Co-Founder/CEO of Mekanism, featured several guests from across the advertising and marketing spectrum to discuss the rise of independent agencies in a series called “Crashing Cannes.” Matt Miller appeared on one episode where he spoke about the importance of independent production and post production, and compatibility with independent agencies.
And over at the AdAge house, Matt participated in a closed-door roundtable discussion with several executives and creatives from indie agencies about the landscape and the importance of craft, collaboration and keeping creative work for marketers at the forefront of the industry.
