Amid soaring temperatures nationwide, producers are advised to be mindful of existing industry guidelines for maintaining safe sets as well as state regulations for employers to protect workers from heat illness.
The Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee has issued Safety Bulletin No. 35, “Safety Considerations for the Prevention of Outdoor Heat Illness,” to address safety concerns when exposed to heat outdoors and recommend safeguards to prevent heat illness. Additionally, Cal/OSHA last year established a new standard on indoor heat illness prevention in the workplace. This standard applies to most workplaces where the indoor temperature reaches 82°F. It establishes required safety measures for indoor workplaces to prevent worker exposure to risk of heat illness.
